Even before the path took a turn, we could hear a roar, a deep rumbling of wild waters rushing down the mountain. Deafening yet magical. The air suddenly grew a lot cooler. I was covered with goose bumps. No more sweltering heat. You could almost taste the water in the air, so vivid, so present.
And there it was! Millions of droplets dancing down below like jewels glistening in the air, swirls of liquid foam tumbling down to a deep, dark below, crashing in a loud clapping thunder. We were all surrounded by a mist of miniature spray, hanging onto our brows, our hair, even our mouths. Delectable! Refreshing! Pure!
I closed my eyes to listen to the roar of the water. Mystical and powerful! A rhythmic pattern, music to my ears. A cooler breeze washed over me. Eyes wide open now, I could see a symphony of watery vapor catching the light of the sun and shining with rainbow colours! Like an orchestra, it intensified and died down, went from left to right and back to the middle in musical harmony.
With outstretched hands, I caught some of the liquid beams and brought them to my mouth. Sweet, delicious cool water! Dare I jump in? I had come this far. Nothing would deter me now.
The chill of the water hit me, taking my breath away. The power of the water crushing down all around, almost scary, but I had done it! I had faced my fears.
